REDDING — On December 6th at around 10:30 AM, Redding Police officers were dispatched to Kids Kingdom in the 4000 block of Victor Avenue after a report of a possible carjacking in progress.

Officers arrived to find 37-year-old Jayson Elliott See being detained by several people, who’d interrupted his attempt to steal a truck from the parking lot.

Investigation determined that See had approached a man sitting in a truck and demanded a ride. When the man refused, See attempted to get into the passenger side and found the door locked. The man then got out of the vehicle, at which point See pushed him aside, jumped in, and tried to start it.

Two other locals noticed what was going on and ran to help, just as See had found a wooden object in the vehicle and began striking the victim.

It wasn’t long before yet another individual noticed what was going on, and soon there were a total of four men dragging See out of the vehicle and wrestling him to the ground to detain him until police arrived.

Officers arrived and See was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance, then arrested and booked on charges of attempted carjacking, elder abuse, and violating the terms of his probation.

The victim was treated at the scene for a contusion suffered from the wooden object See had struck him with.
