San Jose City worker killed by drunk driver

SAN JOSE –41-year-old Richardo Gomez was arrested in San Jose near City Hall where he collided with a vehicle after running a red light and hitting a pedestrian waiting at the cross walk.

Gomez was arrested for driving a white 2006 GMC truck under the influence and charged vehicular manslaughter in the killing of San Jose’s Senior Account Clerk Doug Andreen, who was on the street near the stop light when Gomez ran the red light and rammed into Andreen’s black 1998 Acura, throwing Andreen into a parked KGO-TV news van along 4th street next to City Hall.  Andreen was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

According to San Jose Officials, Andreen worked to support the animal care and services division while working with the fleet, facilities, and development services division.

Andreen was the 40th person to be killed in San Jose this year due to a traffic collision.
