LOMA LINDA – “Grand Theft Animal” is not a charge you see very often.  27-year-old Fabian Constantino and 41-year-old Yesenia Castro changed that in Loma Linda recently.

Ghost and Fred

Fred, an African grey parrot, and Ghost, a cockatoo, were stolen from their home on November 11th.  A concerned citizen’s tip helped police begin an investigation that led to the 170 block of E. 9th street.

At that address, they contacted Castro, who was sharing the place at the time with Ghost.  As the investigation continued, police found Fred holed up with Constantino in a house in Bloomington.

The birds are worth between $1,000 and $2,000, thus rendering this deed a felony grand theft.

Both birds were returned to their home and the pilfering pair were placed in cages of their own.
