YMCA counselor arrested after being charged with lewd acts with a minor

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department has announced the arrest of a youth counselor who worked for the YMCA at an  after school program at Ida Price Middle School.

According to Press Information Officer Albert Morales with the San Jose Police Department, “The San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) / Child Exploit Detail (CED) task force arrested 25 year old San Jose resident Taylor Smith for lewd acts with a minor (felony).”

The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for lewd acts with a female student that attended the after school program.  The young female victim came forward about the sexual assault perpetrated by the suspect in September of 2016. Morales said, “the suspect was located and arrested in San Jose without incident.” Smith was taken into custody on October 12, 2016.
