Watsonville Police Reach Out to Public in Shooting Investigation

WATSONVILLE — After months of investigation, police are now calling on the public for help in piecing together the chain of events from two different crime scenes on a Wednesday night back in February.

On that night, February 28th, police responded to the parking lot of the Food Max grocery store on Main Street after several reports of shots fired. Once on scene, they found one victim who’d sustained a minor injury to the head.

Police then received another call that three more victims had been discovered on Ford Street near Kilburn. Officers were dispatched to the second scene and, indeed, three more victims were found with much more severe injuries which were quickly deemed life-threatening.

All four victims were taken to an unspecified trauma center for treatment. Despite the severity their injuries, the three victims from the second crime scene were listed as being in stable condition.

Officers from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators also assisted on the scene at Food Max.

As of now, the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information pertaining to the case is strongly encouraged to contact the Watsonville Police Department at 831-768-3350.
