Thief Tries to Separate A Man from His Ford Truck

FRESNO – Just after 9:00 AM last Wednesday September 28th a local resident had his Ford F450 truck stolen, but that was not the end of it.

It all began near the intersection of Wishon and Princeton Avenues when, while inspecting a job site, a man left his keys in his vehicle.  Soon after, he discovered his truck leaving without him, and the victim began chasing his own truck from another vehicle, giving police updates as he followed along.

The chase proceeded to the area of Maroa and Shields Avenues. By that time, the would-be truck thief jumped out of the Ford and ran.

Officers arrived and began their search of the neighborhood.  An undercover detective, driving north on Glenn Avenue, spotted the thief, 38-year-old Ronald Autry, on the porch of the house at 1501 E. Glenn Avenue.

Autry matched the description of the suspected thief, so police held him until the victim positively identified him. He was charged with auto theft and a parole violation. He had a previous arrest and incarceration for burglary.

Victim and truck were promptly reunited.
