Richmond Raid Nets 25 Arrests at Hotel

Marina Bay Inn and Suites

RICHMOND – Twenty-five suspects were arrested during a raid at a local hotel on Tuesday, where detectives from the Richmond Police Department recovered five guns, narcotics, stolen and fraudulent credit cards, a credit card manufacturing machine and evidence of stolen mail.

Working in collaboration with a U.S. Postal Service inspector, detectives from police special investigative services and property crimes units spent two months investigating suspicious activities at the Marina Bay Inn & Suites hotel.

Warrants were obtained September 20 and served that morning, enabling investigators to search several hotel rooms at 915 W. Cutting Boulevard. All 25 suspects subsequently arrested are from Richmond, according to police.

Suspects nabbed were booked for various gun, drug and fraud charges, while some still face additional federal charges. Individuals arrested are suspected of gun trafficking, drug sales, mail theft and fraud.

Evidence was seized from six rooms. During the investigation, detectives learned some rooms were rented with fraudulent credit cards and some were occupied by trespassers who apparently forced their way in.

Police began investigating after receiving tips about suspicious activities at the hotel.
