SANTA CRUZ — On September 7th, agents with the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team and Gang Task Force were on patrol near 7th Avenue and Capitola conducted a traffic stop after noticing unusually loud music coming from a vehicle nearby. A background check of the driver, 22-year-old Adrian Abarca, revealed that he was on probation.

Abarca was on felony probation out of Santa Clara County for illegal possession of a firearm and subject to search terms. A search of the vehicle turned up a collapsible police-style baton, and a subsequent search of his home revealed a sawed-off .22-caliber rifle, ammunition, and a high capacity pistol magazine. Given his probationary status, Abarca is strictly prohibited from owning weapons or weapons accessories.

He was booked inot the Santa Clara County Jail on four felony charges relating to the possession of firearms and ammunition.
