Abel Nunez
FRESNO – While at the Stop-N-Go at Clinton and West Avenue, a 63-year-old woman was approached by 34-year-old Abel Nunez. She did not know the man, who proceeded to strike up a conversation with her.

Nunez asked her a random question about how to renew his drivers license, and then pulled out a box cutter and attacked her. He sliced her in the face, throat and chest.
Police responded promptly in a code 3 (lights and sirens activated). When ordered to drop the cutter, Nunez did so, but nor before inflicting damage on the woman, including a cut on the right side of her face from her ear to her chin.
Authorities took the victim to CRMC for surgery. She was at first listed in serious condition.

Nunez was on felony probation for assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury. He was booked for felony probation violation, assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem.
