WATSONVILLE — Watsonville police have arrested 68-year-old Teresa Delgadillo of Watsonville after her indictment in connection to allegations of child abuse.

On June 24, police opened an investigation into possible child abuse involving a 4-month-old victim. The child was taken to a Bay Area children’s hospital for treatment after she was found to have severe head injuries consistent with having been forcefully shaken.

Detectives were soon able to identify the baby’s sitter as the prime suspect, and subsequent evidence corroborated their suspicions that the child had been injured while under her care.

The victim is still being treated. Delgadillo has been charged with inflicting corporal injury on a child and was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on $100,000 bail. She is also being investigated for potential violation of state regulations for providing child care without a license.
