Suspect Arrested After Assualt Turns Deadly

Audry Wayne Law

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department experienced their 26th homicide of the year. According to San Jose Police Officer Albert Morales, “On Wednesday, July 13, at 3:17 AM, San Jose Police officers responded to the 1700 block of Ocala Avenue on a report of possible dead body.”  Once officers arrived on the scene they had located a 66-year-old male San Jose resident who was deceased.

Upon further investigation it came out that the victim had suffered from blunt force trauma that had occurred when 60-year-old suspect Audry Wayne Law was seen fighting with the victim.

“San Jose Homicide detectives conducted follow up investigations and identified suspect Law as the person responsible for the death of the victim,” Morales said. “It was also determined the suspect and the victim were known to each other.”

Apparently both male suspects had gotten into a fist fight that had escalated into the suspect throwing rocks that caused the victim to slip into unconsciousness and eventually succumb to his injuries.

It is believed that the men had been drinking together when the fight erupted. Law was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion on murder under PC 187.

Police are asking that anyone with information contact Detective Sergeant Hamblin or Detective Tanner of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283. Information can also be submitted online at http://www.sjpd.org/crimestoppers.
