Sex Offender Attempts to Kidnap Children

Trinidad Jaime Guzman

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for allegedly trying to kidnap two children and their mother last Wednesday.

According to the sheriff’s office, they received a 911 call from a woman who reported her boyfriend was driving erratically in Oceano with her and her two young children inside the vehicle. The woman also stated the driver would not let them leave the vehicle.

Sheriff’s deputies responded along with Grover Beach Police. They initiated a traffic stop at 13th Street and Seabright Avenue in Grover Beach.

Deputies arrested Trinidad Jaime Guzman, 24, of Grover Beach and charged him with kidnapping and felony child endangerment.

According to the victim, they had moved a week ago from Texas to Grover Beach.

She also stated the suspect is a registered sex offender who had just registered that morning with Grover Beach Police.

The victim, who is pregnant, says the four of them were on their way to the beach, when Guzman became angry because they forgot some items. She said he then began driving erratically, running stop signs and speeding.

The victim says she began screaming to let them out of the car but Guzman refused, so she called 911.
He eventually let the victim, her eight-year-old daughter and three-year-old son out of the vehicle.

Guzman was stopped a few blocks away, was arrested without incident and booked into SLO County Jail.
