SALINAS — Police have charged 24-year-old Enrique Quinonez of Salinas and 31-year-old Anthony Sanchez-Contreras of Prunedale in connection to several recent burglaries which occurred last month. The two were caught trying to rob a motel in Seaside on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, June 29th, Seaside Police were investigating an armed robbery in the Econo Lodge on Fremont Street. The suspects’ vehicle was soon located by Marina Police.

With assistance from officers at the California State University, Monterey Bay police department, Marina officers attempted a stop on Imjin Parkway. Both Quinonez and Contreras were taken into custody for the Seaside robbery.

Given that several of the recent robberies were armed in nature, Peninsula Regional Violence detectives contacted Salinas Police in accordance with the investigation.

The next night, the Shop & Save on North Main Street and the Quik Stop on Williams Road were robbed. They allegedly capped off the festivities with a robbery at the Cork n’ Bottle on North Main.
