Watsonville Officer Catches Burglar in the Act

WATSONVILLE — Officer T. Likins was on patrol and conducting an area check of a parking garage on West Beach Street when he was alerted by the sound of a car alarm.

Upon investigation, Officer Likin discovered a person standing near the vehicle in question who, upon seeing him, decided to flee. Likin gave chase and ordered the person to stop, during which time the suspect discarded several items including a small-caliber revolver.

Eventually, the young man gave up and was detained. It was soon determined that he had indeed intended to break into the vehicle.

The young man then spent the night at the Santa Cruz County Juvenile Hall on charges of vehicle burglary, a minor in possession of a concealed weapon, and gang enhancements.
