Burglary Suspects Arrested in Seaside

Jose Gutierrez-Mendez (L) and Juan Resendiz-Vasquez (R)

SEASIDE — Police have made arrests in connection to two home burglaries that occurred on Friday, June 3rd. 18-year-old Jose Gutierrez-Mendez and 19-year-old Juan Resendiz-Vasquez are also suspected in other burglaries around the city.

On June 3, police responded to two homes that were broken into and had property stolen. Officers were quickly able to identify Gutierrez-Mendez as one of the suspects and take him into custody. It wasn’t long before Resendiz-Vasquez was also identified, as both matched the descriptions of two suspects given after a burglary a few weeks prior.

In the previous case, the two abandoned their attempt once they discovered the owner was home.

Police have developed further evidence that the two are connected to another home burglary as well. So far, they’ve been charged with two counts of residential burglary and one count of attempted burglary. Their bail is currently $1,000 each.
