Auto Theft Suspect Arrested after Suspicious Activities at Local Hotel

MILPITAS– The Milpitas Police Department is announcing the arrest of a 23-year-old transient responsible for an auto theft located near the Milpitas Embassy Suites Hotel at  901 E. Calaveras Boulevard.

According to Sergeant Huy Tran, “On Saturday, June 4, 2016, at approximately 4:27 a.m., a Milpitas police officer was conducting patrol checks at the Embassy Suite Hotel.”

Driving through the area the officer noticed two suspects who were parked in a black Ford Crown Victoria.  After checking the license plate, it was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen out of  San Jose.

Confirming that the vehicle had been stolen, the patrolling officer conducted a felony high-risk traffic stop and two suspects were taken into custody. The driver, 23-year-old transient Samuel Steven Hernandez, had an extensive record detailing prior convictions of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of burglary tools.

Also arrested was 23-year-old San Jose resident Marco Antonio Castro.  Both suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglary tools.
