Suspects Arrested in February Robbery

CATHEDRAL CITY – After a lengthy investigation into a robbery and attempted murder, authorities arrested two suspects and are currently looking for a third.

On February 21, 2016, at approximately 7:20 PM, the Cathedral City Police received multiple reports of shots fired in the 33-300 block of Moreno Road. When officers arrived, they found a male victim who said he had been shot at and robbed at the location. The victim was not struck by the gunfire.

With the assistance of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CVVCGTF), the Cathedral City Police Department embarked on a lengthy investigation into the crime. Multiple suspects involved in the incident were identified.

On May 27, 2016, at approximately 4:00 AM, members of the CVVCGTF, along with the Cathedral City Police Departments Gang Unit served two search warrants on the 67-100 block of Assistencia Drive and 67-200 block of Mission Drive, in Cathedral City.

Antonio Campos, a 19 year-old Cathedral City resident, was arrested and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility, located in the city of Banning, for attempted murder and robbery.

A 15 year-old juvenile was also arrested and booked into the Riverside County Juvenile Hall, located in the city of Indio, for attempt murder and robbery.

CVVCGTF members and the Cathedral City Police Departments Gang Unit believe there is one more outstanding suspect involved in this incident. Authorities are asking anyone with information related to this ongoing investigation to contact CVVCGTF Detective Luna at (760) 345-6268. Information can also be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-STOP.
