Detained Parolee Person of Interest in Murder Case

Emilio Mancia

FRESNO – A Fresno gang member who was picked up by officers for a parole violation has been identified as a person of interest in the stabbing death of a bicyclist last week.

The homicide occurred on May 14 around 10 a.m., when 36-year-old Martin Holt, of Fresno, was riding his mountain bike north of Blackstone Avenue toward Belmont Avenue. A man knocked Holt off his bike as he tried to ride past and then stabbed him several times while he was down on the pavement, police said.

Holt attempted to walk south down the street, but collapsed, police said. He later died at Community Regional Medical Center.

Police identified Emilio Mancia, 32, as a person of interest in the homicide. They say he has been arrested numerous times since 1996, on suspicion of crimes such as assault with a deadly weapon, auto theft and grand theft.

Mancia was picked up by officers early Wednesday for a parole violation. He is now being questioned as a person of interest in the murder investigation.
