A man in Madera has been arrested for theft on Wednesday.

According to the Madera Police Department, Mark Estacio walked into a Chevron on 101 S. Gateway last Saturday and stole 70 lottery tickets valued at $3 each. Surveillance footage from the station allegedly shows Estacio walk in and steal the tickets while the clerk was distracted.

Police found him in a park across the street from the scene of the theft on Wednesday, where he was apprehended. The lotto tickets were found in his home, most unscratched. Even if he had won the lottery, he would have to have gone back to the Gateway Chevron to claim his winnings, rendering the theft pointless.
