PETALUMA – According to an advisory message issued by the Petaluma Police Department (PPD), on Sunday May 8th, shortly after 10am, a resident reported that an unknown male suspect was attempting to break into his vehicle in the resident’s driveway in the 1500 block of Lauren Drive.

The suspect was described as a white male with facial tattoos wearing a black t-shirt. As PPD officers were responding to the scene the resident reported that the suspect had also tried to open the front door of the residence. The subject was unable to gain entry to either the victim’s residence or vehicle.

As PPD officers arrived at the victim’s residence they found the suspect matching the description in the resident’s driveway. He was detained without incident. The victim positively identified the suspect as the subject that had attempted to burglarize the vehicle and also produced photographs of the suspect attempting to gain entry into the vehicle.

The suspect was identified as Jacob Catlin, a 29-year-old Petaluma resident. He was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for attempted burglary and his bail has been set at $10,000.
