Local Drivers Involved in Two Separate Collisions Arrested for DUIs in La Quinta

LA QUINTA –  Two separate single vehicle collisions were determined to be caused by drivers under the influence over the weekend and both suspects were arrested.

At around noon Friday May 6, La Quinta Police officers were called to a single-car traffic collision.  Witnesses reported that a Silver 2005 Toyota Avalon  was driving south on Washington Street and attempted to turn on Village Shopping Center Drive.  The driver jumped a curb with her vehicle striking a traffic control device on the sidewalk.  According to a press release, the driver of the Avalon was Judy Mann, age 71 of La Quinta.  Mann was not injured in the collision.

After investigating, officers reported that Mann was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, and was arrested for misdemeanor DUI.  Mann was transported to a local hospital as a precaution, and then booked at the Indio Jail.

A second incident involving a drunk driver occurred at 9:05 AM on Saturday May 7, when a gray Infiniti driving north on Rivera Street collided with a parked and unoccupied gray Ford F-150 pickup truck.  The Infinity sustained major damage, and the Ford truck sustained moderate damage.

La Quinta Police Officers responded to the incident in the 55000 block of Rivera Street in La Quinta. The driver of the Infiniti, Lillian Salas, age 18 of La Quinta was not injured in the collision, but appeared to be intoxicated.

Officers investigated at the scene and determined that Salas was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, and she was arrested for misdemeanor DUI.  Salas was transported to a local hospital as a precaution, and then booked at the Indio Jail.
