Milpitas Officer Shoots Suspect During Altercation

The incident began here

MILPITAS — The Milpitas Department reported that one of its officers had been in a deadly altercation with a suspect in which the officer was forced to use their duty revolver.  Milpitas Officers responded to a disturbance call near a local motel, when approaching officers faced off with a wanted felon.

According to the Milpitas Police Department, “on April 29, 2016, at 00:51 A.M., a Milpitas police officer conducted a vehicle traffic stop in the parking lot of the Executive Inn, located at 95 Dempsey Road, which resulted in an officer involved shooting.”

After a traffic stop, the 27-year-old Hispanic male suspect fled on foot.  After a brief foot chase he was located near a transition road on westbound E. Calaveras Boulevard to northbound Highway 680. At some time during the chase, the pursuing officer fired one shot and hit the suspect.

During the detainment of the suspect, a large amount of methamphetamine and cash was found on the suspect.  According to a press release, “the officer was uninjured during the incident and the suspect, who had several outstanding warrants, was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.”
