VENTURA COUNTY — It’s no secret that the internet is fertile ground for weirdos, creeps, perverts, and genuine sexual predators of all ages.

These are often skilled manipulators of online profiles, creative written communicators, and insidiously deceptive role-players who target minor children by posing as “friends.”

One such individual appears to be 22-year-old San Franciscan Reggie Marquis Glass, who had been developing an online relationship with a 16-year-old female resident of Moorpark through certain social media channels.

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Dan Hawes, “the victim had arranged to meet Reggie Glass at a public park in the City of Moorpark” early in the evening of March 28th.

When Glass allegedly arrived at the spot where the victim hoped to meet her new online acquaintance, he appeared “wearing a beanie pulled down near his eyes” with the rest of his face similarly covered, whereupon he summarily “forced the victim back into her vehicle,” announced his intent to sexually assault her, and proceeded to forcibly do just that.

The young victim, however, resisted mightily, shouting for help while fighting to exit the vehicle. At that point, a passerby observed the scene and approached the car, which sent Glass off on foot.

The victim spotted a Moorpark Police Department Volunteers in Policing Unit and hailed them.

Moments later, VCSD deputies rolled on the scene, which sent Glass sprinting away in an attempt to evade law enforcement contact.

As per usual, the deputies caught their man a short distance away, and took Glass into custody.

He was then transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of kidnap with intent to rape, attempted rape, false imprisonment, and resisting arrest, with his bail set at $250,000.
