A Sacramento man was arrested March 17th in connection with a brutal double-homicide last year in Roseville.

Arrested was Joshua Daniel Smith, age 38. Smith was charged with the June 2015 murder of Warren Galsote, 34, and Jason Benson, 34. Both men lived in Sacramento and were found shot in the head on Annabelle Ave. in Roseville on June 25th.

According to the Placer County Sheriff’s office, the victims were discovered by a homeowner who discovered a fire in his front yard.

When he tried to extinguish the fire, he made a grisly discovery — two bodies being burned. Both victims were transported to an area hospital where they later died.

Early in the investigation, Smith came to the attention of detectives who now have enough evidence to charge him with two counts of homicide with special circumstances. Smith was being held at the Sacramento County Jail since July on other charges.

On Thursday, the suspect was transported to the Placer County Jail in Auburn and is scheduled for his arraignment on March 21st.  Smith is being held without bail.
