Fresno Sheriff Arrests Alleged Ag Thieves

Jason West and Gurinder Singh

FRESNO – Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Ag Task Force arrested two men on drug and burglary charges.

Jason West, 30, of Riverdale, and Gurinder “Paul” Singh, 39, of Caruthers, were booked into the Fresno County Jail following their arrest on March 15. Both men were on active probation at the time of their arrests, which makes them ineligible for bail.

Ag detectives went to a home on the block of 3300 Stathem Street in Riverdale on March 15 to locate West for an active warrant for a misdemeanor crime. During a probation search of the home, the detectives found marijuana and a methamphetamine pipe belonging to West, the sheriff’s office said.

The detectives also learned where they might be able to find one of West’s friends, Paul Singh, who was identified as a possible suspect in a recent robbery, the sheriff’s office said. Singh is believed to have been responsible for breaking into a sea train shipping container on a farm just west of Caruthers on March 10 and stealing several farm tools and supplies.

Detectives found Singh in a home on the 13000 block of S. Elm Ave. in Caruthers. A probation search of the home revealed narcotics, as well as evidence that linked Singh to the burglary, authorities said.

“The arrests of these two men are significant because they have been known to prey on hard working members of the ag community over and over again,” said Lt. Ryan Hushaw, who oversees the Fresno County Sheriff’s Ag Task Force.
