The San Luis Obispo Police arrested a man for his alleged involvement in a February 16th hit-and-run.

According to SLOPD, the original 9-1-1 call came in around 5:05 p.m. that day stating that a vehicle struck a pedestrian at Higuera and High streets. The caller reported the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The caller also told dispatch the pedestrian was injured.

When officers arrived at the scene they located the injured pedestrian. The pedestrian was treated at the scene by the SLO Fire Department.

A witness at the scene provided a cell phone picture of the suspect’s vehicle. The photo also showed the vehicle’s license plate number.

Investigators revealed surveillance video from local businesses to see if they could catch a recording of the accident. One of the videos from a nearby business showed surveillance of the suspect, who was identified as Anthony Walsh (34) of Cayucos.

Two days after the hit-and-run around 11 a.m. two traffic officers traveled to Cayucos to interview Walsh. The vehicle in question was also located and Walsh was arrested.

Investigators inspected the vehicle and found damage which corroborated where witnesses said the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

Walsh was transported and booked at the SLO County Jail and his bail was set at $50,000.
