Robbery and Assault Suspect Arrested in Fresno

FRESNO – Police arrested a man Monday night believed to be responsible for two robberies and an assault earlier that day in central Fresno.

Authorities said that three adult male suspects followed a 16-year-old boy around 3 p.m. Monday near Tollhouse Park on Millbrook and Ashlan avenues, where they assaulted him and took his property. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.

Around 6 hours later, two adult male suspects assaulted another male victim in the same neighborhood and stole his cell phone, police said.

Officers were able to track the stolen cell phone to a nearby residence where they arrested 18-year-old Marcos Rangel, who was found with the stolen property. Police said that Rangel was alos linked to the first robbery. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on two counts.

Police are still looking for two additional unknown suspects, described as approximately 18 years old. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
