Police: Reckless Uber Driver Confronts Other Motorist Over Complaint

Uber driver smiles pretty in his white Mercedes

SAN JOSE — On Thursday, February 18th, at about 9:50 AM, an incident of assault and battery occurred in front of the car rental facility at Mineta San Jose International Airport, police say.

What should have just been a simple ride to the airport escalated when an Uber driver, confronted by another irate driver, took matters into his own hands. According to San Jose PD Sgt. Garcia, a man in a vehicle observed a white Mercedes speeding and driving erratically. The driver of the Mercedes pulled over, as did the initial driver, and the two had it out, mostly in the form of the second driver pushing and yelling at the first.

The first driver took photos of the reckless driver’s vehicle, whereupon he noticed the placard indicating the man was a driver for Uber.

That’s when the person who’d commissioned the Uber arrived and got into the vehicle, effectively ending the confrontation. The driver got back into his car and drove away.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s with dark hair, standing approximately 5’10” and weighing about 175 lbs. His vehicle is described only as a white Mercedes.
