Cameron Park Man Arrested for Setting His Girlfriend on Fire

A Cameron Park man is in custody after a domestic violence incident. According to The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, Curtis Menezes (28) allegedly doused his girlfriend in gasoline and set her on fire during a fight.

The incident occurred on the evening of February 4th.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding hearing a woman scream. Deputies arrived at a residence on the 2700 block of La Crescenta Drive and found a woman with burns to the lower part of her body. Deputies determined the injuries were from a domestic violence incident. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

Detectives also responded to the incident to investigate, and Menezes was subsequently arrested. The suspect was charged with assault with a caustic chemical along with other charges. He was taken to Placerville Jail, and his bail was set a $100,000.
