WATSONVILLE — Watsonville police arrested 42-year-old Francisco Gonzalez of Hollister on Monday, January 25, after he was seen walking away from the fire station on Second Street wearing items from the station.

On Monday night shortly before midnight, while returning home from a medical call, firefighters observed a suspicious person departing from the station.  Gonzalez was also seen tampering with an AT&T utility box.

Firefighters found the station ransacked and provided a description of Gonzalez to responding police officers, who located Gonzalez two blocks from the station still wearing items he’d taken — utility overalls, gloves, and shoes.

All items were returned and Gonzalez was arrested on charges of burglary. He was booked into the Santa Cruz Couny Jail with bail set at $25,000.
