Suspect Who Beat Man to Death is Arrested

BAKERSFIELD — A alleged murder suspect who beat a man to death in November was arrested this past Tuesday.

Quinton James, 30, was booked into the Kern County Jail on one count of first degree murder.

He is being held without bail.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Quinton was being sought by detectives since November 9, 2015.

That’s when deputies responded to a report of a fight occurring in the 1500 block of South Union Avenue in southeast Bakersfield.

“When deputies arrived they found a male victim lying on the ground,” Public Information Officer Ray Pruitt said. “The victim was transported to a local hospital with head injuries, and eventually died from those injuries on November 27.”

Detectives then began investigating the case and were able to develop probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for James.
