SANTA CRUZ — Imagine going to dinner a few days after having your vehicle stolen only to see it parked in front of the restaurant you’re going to.

On Tuesday morning, December 8, at around 11 AM, a man who’d had his truck stolen called 911 and reported that he’d just spotted his stolen 1988 Ford F150 parked at a local restaurant.  As police were responding, the pickup drove off traveling down Morrissey Boulevard.

The man followed, relaying information to police along the way.

Santa Cruz PD officers caught up with the culprits on Branciforte Avenue and the Highway One overpass and conducted a stop.

The driver, 40-year-old Santa Cruz transient Jennifer Howard, and her passenger, 40-year-old Santa Cruz transient Perry Greer, were taken into custody by gun point.  A large pitbull that had been riding in the cab was also taken in by Santa Cruz Animal Services.

Both were transported and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail, where they are housed on $5,000 bail each.
