YOLO COUNTY — The body of an elderly woman was found in her home earlier this week, the victim of a gunshot wound to her head.

The relatives of Gloria Booth, 92, became concerned after not hearing from her since Saturday, December 5, 2015. When they checked on her on Monday, they found her body on the floor of her kitchen.

Police were called to the residence on the 400 block of East 25th Street where they said Booth, a widow, was found with a bullet wound in the back of her head.

Detectives said it appeared as if she was in the middle of cleaning and the kitchen door had been left ajar. No valuables had been stolen and nothing in the home appeared to be out of place. She had lived in the house for 70 years.

“She was 92 years old. I can’t imagine she could’ve been involved in serious criminal activity,” Lt. Jason Garringer said. “It’s very unusual. The information we’re getting from neighbors is that she was a well-respected resident on the block. The block is actually one of the nicest streets in our city.”

Garringer said investigators are sorting put the details of the case and done two searches of the home and canvassed the neighborhood. “We are trying to find out what was going on in her life.”

“She was the most gracious, kind lady,” said neighbor and friend Bonnie Staudenraus. “She was always very helpful and caring. And she’s going to be missed.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Marysville Police Department at (530) 749-3949.
