500 block of Williams Road — Salinas

SALINAS — Salinas PD is looking for a person of interest in a possible burglary turned attack that left a family dog severely injured.  The attack took place at around 4:20 P.M. on Wednesday evening on the 500 block of Williams Road.

On Wednesday evening, December 2, the owner of the house came home to find one of his dogs in the front yard.  He noticed that the side gate was open.  When he walked to the back of the house he discover a large pool of blood in the back yard. He then discovered that his pitbull had been severely beaten and was laying nearby.  The dog had two broken legs, cuts to his jaw, and a large amount of tissue torn from his mouth.

The owner rushed the dog to a nearby veterinarian but the dog’s injuries were too severe and the dog had to be euthanized.  The motive behind the attack is unknown, but is speculated to have been a case of the dog unexpectedly confronting a home invader.

Police are looking for possible suspect that may have bite wounds and ask for the public’s help.  This crime occurred during evening hours on a busy street in the East Salinas neighborhood.  Anyone with relevant information is strongly encouraged to call the Salinas Police Department at 831-758-7090.
