Police Search for Suspect in Escondido Murder

ESCONDIDO – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public for help in locating a 50-year-old Escondido man wanted in connection with the murder of his estranged wife.

Police are looking for Juan Garcia – AKA, Juan Luis Moreno and Juan Paredes – in connection with the December 6 shooting death of his estranged wife Teresa Ortiz, 46. Police said Garcia is a Hispanic male described as 5′ 8″ and 170 pounds with a small tattoo on the outside of his right hand, and considered armed and dangerous.

Garcia was last seen fleeing the scene of his estranged wife’s shooting in the North Broadway area of Escondido. Sheriff’s said Garcia fled in a vehicle that was recovered a short distance from the crime scene and that he may be carrying a large, semi-automatic handgun.

Anyone with information about Garcia’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. All tips are anonymous and a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Garcia’s arrest
