Citizen Crashes into Robbery Suspects, Chases Them

Shell station where the robbery occurred

VICTORVILLE – A citizen detained one of two armed robbery suspects on Thursday, November 12. Both suspects, who were arrested on charges of armed robbery, have court dates scheduled.

Christopher Kyal Craft, 24, and Jesus Regalado, Jr., 22, were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and booked into High Desert Detention Center. Bail was set at $100,000 for each, according to records. The two suspects reportedly robbed a man at a Victorville gas station. San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies chased their car until they crashed.

Craft and Regalado are suspected of entering the Shell gas station at the corner of Highway 395 and Bear Valley Road shortly after 2:30 a.m. and forcibly taking money from a man inside the store, according to accounts of the event. The victim apparently saw the two men loading a gun before entering the Shell station.

After taking money from the unidentified victim, and also from the store’s cash register, Craft and Regalado fled the scene. According to reports, they crashed into another car in the area of Bear Valley Road and Monte Vista Street.

The driver of that car chased after Craft, who had been driving, and detained him around the time sheriff’s deputies were able to arrive. Regalado, meanwhile, had fled on foot after the crash.

According to a deputy’s report, they were able to track Regalado down by looking at shoe prints near the crash scene. He was detained near the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and Mesa View Street. Both men were arrested without further incident, according to the release. No information was divulged about the man who chased after the suspects and detained Craft.

Deputies said the money stolen from the gas station was located in Regalado’s possession. Both suspects were positively identified by both the video surveillance and the victim.

Craft has two court dates scheduled, according to records. He was due in Victorville Superior Court today, November 16 on the 211 charge (robbery), while he will appear on December 3 on the two drug-related charges, both of which had $15,000 bail. Regalado was also due in Victorville Superior Court on November 16.
