Watsonville Fight Leads To Stabbing

A fight in this Applebee’s parking lot led to an arrest

Report of Several Subjects Fighting In Front of Restaurant

WATSONVILLE—after several hours of investigation, the Watsonville Police Department put an end to another crime in their city. Their investigation led them to arrest 22-year-old Luis Miguel Figueroa of Watsonville on an assault with a deadly weapon charge after a report of fight late Sunday night, November 1, outside of an Applebee’s Restaurant.

Early Monday morning, shortly after midnight, the Watsonville Police Department received a call about a fight that was occurring with several subjects in the parking lot outside the Applebee’s on South Green Valley Road. The subjects left before responding officers could arrive on the scene.

When police arrived they located a 34-year-old Watsonville resident who was a victim of a stab wound to the right forearm. Paramedics from the Watsonville Fire Department and American Medical Response treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to Watsonville Community Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was later released from the hospital.

With the help of several witnesses, police were able to obtain pertinent information about their suspect. Watsonville Police officers continued to diligently follow up leads that helped them to successfully locate their suspect.

Once Figueroa was detained, investigating officers continued to interview their witnesses and the suspect himself. After the interviews investigators with the Watsonville Police Department arrested Figueroa on assault charges, driving under the influence and fighting in a public place. He was transported and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail. His bail was set at $25,000.00.
