Arrest Made in Vallejo Homicide

The fatal shooting happened near this Vallejo street corner

On the afternoon of July 7, 2015, Vallejo Police received a call reporting a shooting that had just occurred in the area of Alameda Street and Capitol Street, according to a Vallejo Police Press Release.

Vallejo Police officers who responded to the scene found Gina Estevez, a 25-year-old Daily City resident, suffering from gunshot wounds. She had been in the driver’s seat of her tan Mercedes Benz, with her boyfriend in the passenger seat. He was not seriously injured. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

After an investigation, Vallejo Polices Detectives discovered the shooting actually took place on the 100 block of Broadway Street in Vallejo. After examining physical evidence and talking to witnesses, detectives determined that the victim died at the end of a gun fight between two men she knew. She and her boyfriend had then driven several blocks, about a third of a mile, to where she was found.

Vallejo Police announced yesterday that on October 8th, Detectives arrested Rewia L. Beamon III, a 26-year-old Vallejo resident, on charges of murder, terrorist threats, and three counts of assault with a firearm. He was also charged with vehicle theft. Beamon was booked into Solano County Jail.

Available records show that Beamon has been arrested multiple times in the past year alone. On June 24 he was charged with driving under the influence, and on April 1 for disobeying a domestic relations court order. On January 29 he was booked at Solano County Jail on outstanding warrants for robbery, burglary, assault with a firearm, discharging a weapon in a grossly negligent manner, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, a loaded firearm in public, child cruelty with the possibility of injury or death, hit and run causing property damage, driving with a suspended license, false personation of another, giving false information to an officer, and violation his parole.

In December of 2011 he was arrested with two others, Ricky Mitchell, then 20, and William Davis, then 26, for armed robbery of a Vallejo McDonald’s restaurant. The three had covered their faces before entering, one of them armed with a handgun, and they jumped the counter and took cash from the register, according to the Vallejo Times-Herald. They were soon found in a car in the alley behind the McDonald’s and were arrested. The gun was stolen out of Antioch.

Beamon was arrested again just a few months later, in April of 2012 for carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and carrying a loaded weapon while not the registered owner.

According to the Duggan’s Serra Mortuary obituary, the shooting victim, Gina Estevez was born in Daly City and graduated from Westmore High School. She worked as a cosmetologist for several years.
