TEHACHAPI — A husband and wife in the small mountain town of Tehachapi in eastern Kern County were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly selling drugs to a minor.

Saul Pena Gonzales (34) and his wife Maria Amparo Perez (31), both of Tehachapi, were booked onto the Kern County Jail on charges of suspicion of furnishing narcotics to a minor, committing willful harm to a child, intimidation of a witness, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Gonzales also faces an additional charge of committing a lewd act against a minor.

According to the Tehachapi Police, the couple was arrested after officers obtained and served a search warrant at an apartment in the 600 block of Linden Court in downtown Tehachapi on October 27 at around 5:30 p.m. “On October 26, we received information and officers conducted an investigation into a report that some individuals were possibly providing narcotics to a minor,” said Tehachapi Police Chief Kent Kroeger. “A warrant was then issued and executed.”

During the time of the couple’s arrest, four other children were located inside the apartment, and were released into the custody of family members.

However, police believe that there is only one victim at this time.
