The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office reported the stabbing death of 34-year-old Jacobo Rojos-Vilchis near the 600 Block of San Bruno Avenue in unincorporated Morgan Hill. According to Sergeant J. Jensen, “on September 26th at 11:14 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a quincenera, where a fight was occurring with multiple people involved at a residence.” A Quincenera is a girl’s 15th birthday party as celebrated in Latin American cultures.

Deputies arrived on the scene and located a male victim, Jacobo Rojos-Vilchis from Milpitas, who had been stabbed multiple times during an argument with a friend of the family. Santa Clara County Deputies on scene rendered medical aid until the fire department and EMS arrived. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect had fled the scene prior to the deputies responding. Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office detectives and crime scene investigators responding to the scene were able identify the suspect as 35-year-old Gonzalo Julio Morales.

According to Jensen, “On 9/28/15, Morales was located at a residence in Mountain View. Morales’ bloody jeans were located in a garbage can at the residence.” SCCSD detectives learned the knife was thrown from the vehicle when Morales was fleeing the scene. Once Morales was taken into custody, he told detectives that he had tossed the knife in the area of Highway 101 and Bailey Avenue. He was later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for PC 187, homicide.

Morales was traced to a former residence, an apartment on Higdon Street in Mountain View.

Morales listed his occupation as mechanic’s assistant. A records search showed only one prior arrest for Morales, a December 13, 2013 driving under the influence arrest by Sunnyvale police, along with charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. At the time, he was living at the same Mountain View address where he was arrested in the murder investigation, but his current address is a home in San Jose.

The next court date for Morales has been scheduled in the San Jose Hall of Justice in San Jose at 1:30 PM in Dept 30 on October 23, 2015.
