ROSAMOND — Two Rosamond car thieves are behind bars after a anonymous tip led detectives to their stash of stolen vehicles.

53-year-old Richard Whempner of Fernly, Nevada and 34-year-old Jeffrey Bradley of Rosamond were both arrested on Friday and booked into the Kern County Jail. Whempner was booked on two charges of felon in possession of firearms, while Bradley was booked on charges of being a felon in possession of firearms, possession of stolen vehicles, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the pair’s arrest came at the conclusion of a lengthy investigation into the theft of numerous stolen vehicles in and around the Rosamond area.

On October 2, deputies received a tip from the public regarding the location of the stolen vehicles, which led them to Bradley’s residence on the 4700 block of Brabham Avenue in Rosamond, where deputies said they located a total of seven stolen vehicles and numerous other stolen items including several firearms.
