Fresno Man Allegedly Used Girls as Prostitute in New Jersey

FRESNO – New Jersey police arrested a Fresno man they say was recruiting and employing two teenage girls to work for him as prostitutes.

A woman in Fresno called police in Elmwood Park, New Jersey last week to inform them that her niece and another teenage girl were missing out of Fresno, and based on some social media postings, she believed they were at a hotel in their area.

Police also looked through the social media postings and suspected that the 13-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl were staying at a hotel in Elmwood Park. Police successfully located the girls at the Town House Inn & Suites.

Suspect Bogart Velasco, 53, allegedly drove the girls from Fresno to New Jersey to have them make money through prostitution. He was also found in Elmwood Park and taken into custody.

Police said that Velasco also had sexual relations with both girls at different times while they were in New Jersey.

The girls are in the care of the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
