Chowchilla police arrest a pair of frequent customers

Beverly Jean Guthrie was arrested just a month ago on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, and using a stolen ATM card. It was early in the morning of Thursday, July 16 that she and fellow transient, Jose Angel Gonzalez, were picked up by Chowchilla Police on Robertson Street downtown. Prior to that, Guthrie had been arrested on Monday, June 8 and charged with possession of a controlled substance and on an outstanding warrant. She then reported living at a house on Orange Street near Chowchilla High School and Wilson Middle School. She has been arrested at least six times by Chowchilla Police on outstanding warrants since 2013. She also reported addresses in rural south Chowchilla and an apartment in the southwest part of town.

Now reporting the Orange Street address once again, she was arrested by Chowchilla Police on outstanding bench warrants for the three charges from the incident in July, along with an additional out of county warrant. While they were taking Guthrie into custody, they also arrested Lendon Steve Duncan Jr., 46, who was living at the same address on Orange Street. He was charged with misdemeanor trespassing on private property, and a violation of felony probation.

Lendon Duncan has been arrested multiple times over the past few years while living in Chowchilla. The reported landscaping worker was arrested in March of 2012 on the relatively minor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. A year later, however, he was charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and burglary tools. He was charged on a outstanding warrant in October 2013, and then in January 2014 he was arrested for driving under the influence, public intoxication, burglary, possession of stolen property, burglary tools, and drug paraphernalia, including a hypodermic needle.

He was arrested again for drug paraphernalia in June of 2014, burglary in August, and several times on outstanding warrants, including his most recent arrest, on June 11, prior to the arrest on Friday, August 14. He was booked in lieu of $1,000 bond. For her multiple charges, Beverly Guthrie’s bail was set at $90,000.
