Suspect Arrested in Bonita Arsons

BONITA- San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 44-year-old man as a suspect in several recent arson brush fires in Bonita. Bonita is a small town just inland from Chula Vista, south of San Diego.

Edwin Fisk was arrested in Bonita on Wednesday, July 29 by sheriff’s deputies from the Imperial Beach station and the Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit. He is scheduled to be arraigned the afternoon of July 31 at the South Bay Courthouse.

The Sheriff’s department had been investigating a string of fires that broke out in a creek bed near Willow and Bonita Roads between April 29 and May 1. The area is near the Chula Vista Golf Course and a busy business district, but no structures were burned.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to another fire behind a liquor store on the 4200 block of Bonita Road on May 24, and during the course of that investigation, Fisk was identified as a suspect in the arsons. His address of record is in the same neighborhood, at an apartment in the Villas De Bonita complex.
