Two Nurses Apprehended for Domestic Violence

HAWTHORNE – What nurses do outside of the hospital or doctor’s office is certainly their own business, until it involves behavior such as assault. An afternoon domestic dispute between a couple resulted in a call to Hawthorne police.

Tony Michael, 58, and Helen Tingson Henry, 51, were both arrested by officers on Monday, May 25 at approximately 3:38 p.m. at their shared apartment-building home along the block of 13000 South Roselle Avenue in Hawthorne. Both told police that their occupation was “nurse.”

Michael was charged with inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant (273.5(A)PC) – domestic violence – and possessing less than 28.5 grams of marijuana (11357(B)HS). Henry was charged with the same domestic violence charges, as well as assault with a deadly weapon (but not a firearm) (245(A)(1)PC).

It appears that the couple were involved in a violent altercation, but that Ms. Henry used a weapon to overcome Michael’s 30 pound weight advantage.

In any case, bail for the man was set at $50,035; the $35 was for the marijuana charge. Bail for the woman was set at $80,000; police did not disclose the nature of the weapon she allegedly used.
