Father Catches Intruder Crawling Into His Daughter’s Room

FRESNO – A dad who found a man halfway inside of his daughter’s bedroom on Wednesday morning fought the man off and chased him away, police said.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. in the 3400 block of East Ventura Avenue. Police identified the suspect in the case as 42-year-old Jose Hernandez.

Police say that the father saw the suspect with his upper torso through a bedroom window and was able to get him out of the window. At that point, Hernandez grabbed a stick and began to fight the father and threatened to kill him, police said. The father still managed to chase the man from the property.

Police caught Hernandez at First Street and Platt Avenue. They say he confessed to the attempted burglary. Police said he told them that he needed money to support a drug habit.

Hernandez was booked on charges of burglary and making criminal threats.
