Man and Woman Dead in Fresno Murder/Suicide

FRESNO – A man murdered a woman and then killed himself in front of an office full of patients and staff at a downtown Fresno pediatrics office, police said.

The gunman was identified as 43-year-old Neng Moua. The victim, age 33, was not identified, but police said that she was the mother of Moua’s five children.

The incident happened Tuesday morning. Around 10:52 a.m., police were sent to the building housing Sang Pediatrics and Eye Medical Center at S and Mariposa streets after there were reports of shots being fired, authorities said.

“There were several people that were running out of the building frantically advising our officers that an Asian male had come inside of the building and was armed with a shotgun and had shot one of the employees,” Fresno Police Deputy Chief Pat Farmer said.

SWAT officers broke windows at the building to rescue people inside. Officers who went inside the building found a woman hiding in an examination room with three children. They later found Moua and the victim dead inside, according to authorities.

Moua had allegedly entered the building, where the victim worked, shot the victim and then a few minutes later, shot himself.

Police served a search warrant at Moua’s residence in the 8600 block of Shaw Avenue in Clovis later that evening and found a suicide note, but did not reveal what the note said.

Farmer called the shootings a “tragedy,” but expressed his relief that on one else was hurt in the incident.

This has been Fresno’s 12th homicide this year.
