Caretaker Arrested for Theft

A Sacramento area caretaker is accused of stealing from the 92-year old man she was working for. According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Kneisha Ann Dosty, 31 of Carmichael, is suspected of stealing jewelry and checks from a 92-year old Placer County man she was caring for. Information on how long Dosty was working for the man has not been released.

A call from a Sacramento check cashing business to verify the validity of a check presented alerted the victim’s family to the crime. Although the suspect left the check cashing business, police later traced the check to Dosty.

The victim’s family also discovered jewelry had been stolen, and reported the theft to the Placer County Sheriff’s Department. Some of the man’s jewelry was later found at a Sacramento pawn shop by detectives.

On Friday, March 20th, Dosty was taken into custody and booked at the Placer County Jail. Her charges included identity theft, grand theft and financial elder abuse by a caretaker. Bail was set at $50,000. According to the Placer County Sheriff’s office, Dosty is cooperating with detectives who are continuing the investigation.

Previous records show Dosty was arrested on September 12, 2012 for abuse and domestic violence – battery on a spouse or co-habitant while living in Sacramento.
