Attempts to Walk out of Walmart With Big-Ticket Items

The Paso Robles Police arrested a man last Saturday after he tried to walk out of Walmart with two flat screen televisions and one computer.

According to PRPD, they received a call around 6 p.m. from Walmart. Investigators say a lone male adult suspect entered Walmart and went directly to the electronics area. Police say once the suspect was there, he placed two flat-screen televisions and one computer in a shopping basket and walked towards the front exit of the business.

The suspect walked by the cash registers and out the front doors and kept walking even when an employee questioned him as to whether he had paid for the items. The suspect went to a vehicle parked nearby, followed by two employees. He then only put the computer in the trunk because the televisions apparently would not fit and left them behind, jumped into the front passenger seat of the vehicle and fled the area.

Using vehicle information, officers identified the suspect as 25-year-old Kyle James Learmonth of Atascadero.  Learmonth was found to be on probation in SLO County, so a search was conducted of his residence. The stolen computer was found and later returned to Wal-Mart.  Learmonth was later booked into the SLO County Jail for one count of grand theft.
