During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun beneath the passenger seat. They also found an undisclosed amount of heroin and methamphetamine in the vehicle. PRPD detectives were called out to the scene to determine if the handgun was part of several that were stolen in a recent residential burglary.

When detectives inventoried the vehicle’s contents they discovered a second .45 caliber handgun in the trunk along with several boxes of ammunition.
Detectives also discovered property that was directly linked to at least three other vehicle burglaries that all occurred within the last week.

According to PRPD, approximately 35 items, suspected or known to be stolen property, were seized. Tabelin was transported to SLO County Jail for charges including a felony narcotics addict in possession of a firearm, felony possession of stolen property, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a narcotic and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
